Williams, Theodore Samuel (Ted)
(1918-2002) Уильямс, Теодор Сэмьюэл (Тед)
Бейсболист, один из лучших бэттеров [batter] и хиттеров [hitter] в истории высших лиг [major league]. С 1939 играл в команде "Бостон ред сокс" [Boston Red Sox]. За время карьеры поставил множество рекордов (среди них - 521 круговая пробежка [home run]). В 1946 и 1949 получал звание "самого ценного игрока" [most valuable player]; обладатель престижного приза "Тройная корона" [Triple Crown] (в 1942 и 1947) и др. Ушел из спорта в 1960, в 1969-72 был менеджером команды "Вашингтон сенаторс" [Washington Senators] (позднее - "Тексас рейнджерс" [Texas Rangers]). В 1966 избран в Национальную галерею славы бейсбола [National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum]
